Updating the Sansa Express firmware

How do I update the firmware of the Sansa Express?

STEP 1 - Download the firmware package from the forums

STEP 2 - Unzip the downloaded file
1. Double-click the downloaded zipped file.
2. Extract the files to the desktop.

STEP 3 - Install the driver
1. In the firmware folder, right-click the StMp3Rec.sys file, then select Copy.
2. Navigate to the drivers folder (double-click My Computer > C: > Windows > system32 > drivers).
3. Right-click an empty space inside the drivers folder, then click on Paste.

STEP 4 - Plug the Sansa Express player to the PC in recovery class mode
1. Press and hold the (-) volume button while plugging in the device to the PC.
2. In the Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box, select Install the software automatically (Recommended), then click Next.

3. In the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

STEP 5 - Run the Sansa Express firmware updater
1. In the firmware folder where the files were extracted, double-click SansaExpressUpdater.exe to start update.

WARNING: Do not disconnect your Sansa Express player while it's in the process of updating

2. Click Finish after the firmware has been updated.
